Marvel’s Luke Cage: Season One – Review

Marvel’s Luke Cage: Season One, created by Cheo Hodari Coker and starring Mike Colter, Simone Missick, Theo Rossi, Alfre Woodard, Mahershala Ali, Rosario Dawson and Erik LaRay Harvey.

Given superstrength and durability by a sabotaged experiment, a wrongly accused man escapes prison to become a superhero for hire.

Luke Cage is the third Marvel character to grace the small screen with their own series on Netflix, with Marvel’s Iron Fist being the last before the first season of Marvel’s The Defenders airs in August 2017. Although all are linked in some way and seem to be heading in the same direction, each series has a unique touch to set them apart.

When we last saw Luke Cage in Marvel’s Jessica Jones, he was in a bad place. As this series opens, Luke is back in Harlem looking for a fresh start; but with ruthless club owner Cottonmouth lurking in the streets, Luke is forced to hit back.

Stranger Things is written & directed by The Duffer Brothers and stars Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Noah Schnapp and Cara Buono.

When a young boy disappears, his mother, a police chief, and his friends must confront terrifying forces in order to get him back.

Where to begin? Stranger Things is one of the most enjoyable pieces of television that I’ve experienced in years. With a satisfying eight episodes in its first season, The Duffer Brothers have delivered a multi-genre masterpiece that has taken the world by storm. Jessica Jones (2015-present) – Season One Review

★★★★★ – “Pleasantly surprising.”

Jessica Jones is the next instalment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), following on from Daredevil, which also premiered last year. Set in the same Hell’s Kitchen, Jessica Jones takes a look at dark tones and topics such as depression, guilt, sex, death, rape and assault; and this only makes the story drive more. Daredevil was dark, but this is much, much darker.
